Position Summary
The Pastor of Community Care provides visionary leadership for Christ Culture Community's ministries of care by creating, developing, and overseeing comprehensive systems that strengthen the spiritual, emotional, and relational support of the congregation.
This pastor recruits, equips, coaches, and supports the ministry leaders responsible for Culinary Arts, In-Service Support, Pastoral Care, and Strategic Prayer, ensuring that each ministry reflects the compassion of Christ, embodies the culture of Christ Culture Community, and advances the church's mission.
Rather than leading each ministry directly, the Pastor of Community Care serves as the primary shepherd of ministry leaders—developing healthy systems, cultivating compassionate leaders, and ensuring that every individual experiences intentional care throughout every stage of their spiritual journey.
Working closely with the Lead Pastor, staff, and ministry leaders, the Pastor of Community Care builds sustainable care systems that foster belonging, encourage spiritual growth, respond to congregational needs, and cultivate a culture where every person is known, supported, prayed for, and cared for.
Success in this role is measured not by personally meeting every need, but by developing leaders and care systems that ensure no person walks through life's joys or challenges alone.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership Development & Oversight
Recruit, interview, recommend, and develop qualified ministry leaders to oversee the Culinary Arts, In-Service Support, Pastoral Care, and Strategic Prayer ministries.
Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, accountability, and spiritual support to ministry leaders.
Meet regularly with ministry leaders to provide vision, strategic direction, leadership development, and ministry support.
Ensure ministry leaders are equipped with the training, resources, and systems necessary to lead effective and compassionate ministries.
Conduct regular evaluations of ministry effectiveness and ministry leader development.
2. Strategic Care Leadership
Develop and communicate a unified vision for Community Care that aligns all care ministries with the mission, vision, and values of Christ Culture Community.
Design and implement systems that provide timely, compassionate, and effective spiritual care for members, regular attendees, and guests.
Collaborate with pastors and ministry leaders to ensure congregational needs are identified and addressed holistically.
Establish annual ministry goals, strategic initiatives, and care priorities.
Prepare and steward ministry budgets and resources for all Community Care ministries.
3. Oversight of Pastoral Care
Through the Pastoral Care Team Leader, the Pastor will:
Ensure effective systems for visitation, prayer, crisis response, bereavement care, member support, and spiritual encouragement.
Develop processes that ensure individuals and families experiencing illness, grief, hardship, or crisis receive timely and compassionate pastoral care.
Provide guidance for confidential, ethical, and Christ-centered care practices.
Coordinate referrals for counseling or specialized care when appropriate.
4. Oversight of Strategic Prayer
Through the Strategic Prayer Leader, the Pastor will:
Champion a culture of intentional, Scripture-centered prayer throughout the church.
Provide oversight for corporate prayer initiatives, intercessory prayer teams, and church-wide prayer gatherings.
Ensure prayer remains foundational to ministry planning, leadership, and congregational life.
Recruit, equip, and develop prayer leaders throughout the church.
5. Oversight of Culinary Arts
Through the Culinary Arts Leader, the Pastor will:
Ensure hospitality ministries reflect the love, generosity, and welcome of Christ.
Oversee meal ministries supporting funerals, church-wide fellowship events, celebrations, and congregational care initiatives.
Recruit and develop volunteer teams that provide practical care through hospitality and food ministry.
Ensure excellence in planning, food preparation, volunteer coordination, and service.
6. Oversight of In-Service Support
Through the In-Service Support Leader, the Pastor will:
Ensure worship gatherings provide meaningful opportunities for prayer, response, encouragement, and congregational care.
Oversee volunteers serving in response ministries and guest support during worship services.
Develop systems that identify and respond to immediate pastoral needs arising during worship gatherings.
Foster a welcoming, prayerful, and spiritually supportive environment throughout church services.
7. Volunteer & Leadership Development
Develop sustainable systems for recruiting, onboarding, training, mentoring, and deploying ministry leaders and volunteers.
Create leadership development pathways that prepare future ministry leaders within Community Care.
Foster a culture of servant leadership, compassion, hospitality, excellence, confidentiality, and spiritual maturity.
Recognize and celebrate ministry leaders and volunteers for their faithful service.
